Day 1 of Lakme Fashion Week 2016
The big event was started by one of our most cherished designers Manish Malhotra with his collection themed around the five elements of nature as well as the tree of life.
We got to see the perfect nuptials between nature and fashion.
Anupama Bose through her ‘Satrangi’ gave one of her most fantastic pieces mostly consisting of silk- a perfect blend of traditional couture with a subtle kiss of modernity.
The audience got a glimpse of digital, electronic fashion view on the ramp throughing glowing, neon hues by ElekroCouture. The collection was chic and looked fabulous in the way it was presented.
Day 2 of Lakme Fashion Week 2016
The day called as ‘Textile Day’ was a show for the upcoming rustic fashion illustrating ensembles that were wearable, breathable and just apt for the rising mercury.
Wendell Rodricks presented a show full of see through linens, tea soaked and coffee dipped hues in breathable silhouettes. Ghaghras, saris with floor length Cape blouses, chogas, the collection talked purely from Indian textile heritage, classic to the modern audience.
One of the most spectacular part was breaking the stereotypes by Carol gracias walking with her baby bump for Gaurang, showcasing “Jamdani” weave in an international flavor.
Mrinalini Gupta gave us ‘Banaras’ creating ultimate apparels in khadi, that were practical and yet contemporary. The whole week this year gave us everything that was wearable and comfortable as well.
Day 3 of Lakme Fashion Week 2016
Royality and grandeur set the ramp on flares with Sonakshi Sinha swirling to the tunes as she walked for Anita Dongre. Her collection was a crisp flavor of Indian royal fabrics and designs dominated by Rajashtani weaves. This time she plays with motifs and embroidery on feminine silhouettes.
Sonakshi looked stunning in her peacock blue ghaghra.
The day went forward with an elegant flowery collection for the spring by our very own Nishka Lulla.
Her airy spring collection had subtle hues of whites and blues with everything talking of blossoming flowers. From midis to knee length skirts with crop tops, the apparels were everything you would want for the coming summer.
Ethnic wear got a complete makeover through Payal Singhal’s extremely stunning spring collection. Her diverse collection had nets, silks and array of embroidered, printed patterns on Lehengas, Anarkalis and Sarees, apt for the coming summer.
What caught our eyes was her ravishing sensual red lehenga choli with golden zari work, that was just too exquisite to handle.
Day 4 of Lakme Fashion Week 2016
The day had a lot in store for the fashion foodies. We loved the celebration of womanhood by DoubtIsOut which showcased its entire collection through women from different walks of life.
Helen, Bharti Singh, Sunny Leone and Laxmi Narayan were seen walking for ‘Ajio’ to clear the clichés that hold women from blooming out.
Masaba Gupta took her signature prints and artistic details with garbage bag pants, Kurtis, floor length tunics, deconstructed blazers and dhoti skirts. Shraddha Kapoor took set ablaze the ramp with her astonishing attitude and an outfit to die for.
True to her brand name, Magnum, Monisha Jaising’s show was a visual feast for eyes. Glimmering in the colors of gold and luxury, her collection spoke of shimmering fabrics with Belgian browns and vanilla shaded.
Lisa Haydon was a walking epitome of richness, posh-ness and metallic beauty in her shimmering gold bodycon gown.
